A LIFE WELL-LIVED...

THE GAMES WE CHILDREN PLAY
The Game of Gross!

Leech (Alimatok), a mere mention of the word gives most young and old the gross feeling.
They are parasites, thrive in shallow pond, sides of the river or creek where water is stagnant. They prey on water buffalos (kabaw) that are bathed (tuna) there for the mud to protect it from mosquito-bites.

They prey on humans too.
And here's what we (only the brave few of us) do for fun.
We dip our legs into the water, wait for a few minutes, until one or two of these suckers stick to your legs.

Before they could begin setting-up their suction pump, we get out of water. With water and soap, they can easily get off your skin.

And here's the fun part (we thought it was), we use coconut midrib (gungi) to pierce its whole longitudinally, resulting it inside-out!.

And finally, we have them sun-dried!.
