A LIFE WELL-LIVED...

NEW ZEALAND Aotearoa (The Land of Long Clouds)

INVERCARGILL
The Filipino Community!

Years before our arrival, there was already an association of Filipinos in the area, The Filipino Association of Southland.

Filipinos in the diaspora always stick to each other, both in good and in bad times.

But what stands out with this one is, all the officers are Kiwis, yes, married to Filipinas.

Steve Dempster and Linda - from Leyte, the President;
Mervin Nelson and Tejani - from Agusan;
Greg Whittle and Runilla;
Ben Powell and Nilda;
Gordon Carney and wife;
Earl Robertson and wife;
Trevor Clark and Marilyn;
Trevor Christi and Letty;
George Savage and wife;
Tex and Ched;
The Gordons;
Norma Walker;
Ron Coughey and Mila - from Negros Occidental;
Madelon and aunt Dulsora - from Ozamiz City
Allen and wife - from Badian Cebu;

After three decades of virtually no contacts, sadly, some names just faded away.

The Association organized a very warm welcome party for us, something I will never forget.
